Architecture
Capturing the essence of a building or space; A portrait of your building in a compelling light.
I approach architectural photography almost as I would a portrait setting with a person. The process is a collaboration between myself, the architect (or builder, developer, etc.) and the building. I aim to capture the elements and aspects of the space that are important to each client while using light, angles and lines to communicate those things with added visual interest and depth. I am also an FAA licensed and insured commercial drone pilot and bring that aerial vantage to any project where it adds interest or value and where legal.
Portraiture
Creating compelling and flattering portraiture of real people in authentic situations.
A portrait session can be initiated for many reasons. My portraiture ranges from working with a marketing team, branding team and talent to create stylized photography for an upcoming advertising campaign, to a one on one collaboration with an up and coming opera singer needing new head-shots (and everything in between). My goal is to listen to what you need, create an environment that is comfortable and deliver what was promised. I can bring an entire studio into your space, or utilize only natural light. The subject and marketing team can view the photos as we work, live on a tablet, to help with collaboration and communication, or you can wait for a curated, edited gallery of selects. Every portrait situation is different and I enjoy being flexible, creative and thoughtful to tailor my craft to help you advance your goals.
Reportage
Using documentary style photography to visually tell a story, showcase authentic emotion and document an event; A powerful way to show and not try to tell.
I have accumulated over 10 years of experience working almost exclusively as a freelance editorial photographer for national publications including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. During those years I honed my skills in visual story telling, patience and observation. I still accept an occasional assignment from daily editorial clients, but mainly use these skills and the aesthetic developed during that time in magazine work, for advertising and various corporate uses. These clients want to capture an authentic interaction or emotion—be it a doctor with a patient, real customers experiencing a new product or service, and even employees performing their work for a PR campaign or website content.
